Micheal Haran studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL. He lives and works in West London. He exhibited 8 paintings at the Florence Biennale in Italy in October 2023.
Micheal travelled extensively when he was younger to inform his passion for archeology and spiritual experiences. He draws lots of inspiration from multiple art movements including Post-Impressionism, painters such as Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cezanne. Cubism, Futurism, Dadaism, Surrealism, and bio morphic sculpture all help to enthuse his creativity. The early Abstract Expressionist artists such as Lee Krasner, Helen Frankenthaler, Cy Twombly, Robert Motherwell and Mark Rothko are often referenced in his works and help contribute towards his artistic thinking.
He draws inspiration from many literary writers, particularly Aldous Huxley, Hermann Hesse, Ernest Hemingway and Jack Kerouac. He is also very inspired by ancient cultures, history, poetry, mythology and also by multiple musical genres.
He is passionate about the conservation of the Amazon rainforest and other tropical forests. He has raised funds for rainforest conservation through art sales and donations ( www.amazonia.love ).
Micheal organized an exhibition at the Tabernacle in Notting Hill Gate in January 2020, during which he donated 40% of the sales proceeds to three charities, including the Rainforest Trust, which was able to conserve 625 acres of rainforest.
