Mizue Yoshimura was born in Fukuoka, Japan. She completed her BA (Hons) in Visual Art Painting at Camberwell College of Arts in the UK in 2005. She exhibited her paintings in England, mainly in London. She now lives in Japan.
Influenced by light, water and the natural environment, she expresses the rhythms, patterns and colours of nature in her paintings. She has developed an original and highly personal technique that involves building up layers of acrylic paints into which she engraves with a chisel
to reveal a multitude of otherwise hidden colours, textures and forms. Painting with this technique offers a paradoxically unpremeditated, random quality from a meticulous and precise
methodology, to create a sense of space, depth and rhythm.
"Mizue Yoshimura’s beautiful rhythmic paintings are full of light and energy. Clearly influenced by the nature around us, they are contemplative and thoughtful pieces."
