Kate Lowe

Canadian artist Kate Lowe creates work centred around the tensions of the human condition. Integrating elements of painting, collage, typography and photography, Kate’s work is driven by narrative. Kate combines personal experiences and identity with a wider commentary on social structures. Her visual language is both diverse and compelling, and Kate’s style spans from figurative representation to an Impressionist aesthetic. Cityscapes and urban motifs characterise so much of Kate’s work, from scenes of chaos, to quieter, more intimate observations.

Kate Lowe’s Education

Born in Toronto, Kate has been an avid traveller from an early age, living and working in the US, Australia and Europe. After studying Fine Art and Environmental Economics in Vermont, Kate embarked on a hugely successful 20 year advertising career. In 2003, Kate returned to education and went on to study at Central St Martins, The Royal Academy, The Putney School of Art and The Royal Drawing School before recently completing an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art. Kate frequently teaches and runs art workshops in the Calais Camps.

Exhibitions, Collections and Awards

Kate is now based in the UK and she regularly exhibits in solo and group shows around London. Her work has also made its way further afield, showing in private and corporate collections across Canada, Europe, Australia and South Africa. Kate was in the final of the BBC Big Painting Challenge and she recently founded The Pollen Collective in London.
