Astrid Steenbrink

Almost since his artistic approach, Astrid Steenbrink explores the cities of his daily life, a camera in hand. Everything is a pretext for wandering the gaze. She grabs gestures, impressions, looks, movements, exchanges, leaks. Anonymous, these strangers please him, intrigue it, upset it. Who are they? Who do they like? What dreams are they animated by what dreams? In the evening, in her workshop, looking at these snapshots, she reconstructs destinies. She detects the fragments that will become the supports of her paintings. It frames outside the fields, it imposes as little as possible, so that everyone recomposes in their own way the missing spaces. She is just an intermediary ... Astrid Steenbrink works with oil paint or/and China ink.

The paint is applied to the knife and is mounted in successive layers until you get the right color vibration.
