Georgie McEwan (1995) is a London based artist working in painting and spatial design. Her practice celebrates the poetry of the everyday through reimagining forgotten, overlooked and discarded details from daily life into surreal and vibrant abstract works. Drawing influence from her architectural background, Georgie’s work entangles the familiar in poetic explorations that warp and play with the boundaries between architecture and art. Joyful abstractions of space, colour and pattern present an alternative way of looking at the world, where distorted dimensions and floating fragments transport us into unexpected landscapes of the imagination.
Georgie had her first solo show ‘Out of The Blue’ (2024) at artsdepot in London, exhibiting a new body of work inspired by her time as artist in residence at Casa Lü in Mexico City, concluded with the group exhibition ‘A Home Between Two worlds’ (2023). She has also exhibited at Seminario 12 in Mexico City in ‘The Garden of Making’ (2020) and at Betts Project in London as part of the group show ‘Not only, but also’ (2020). Following her MA in Architecture at the Royal College of Art (2020) and BA at Newcastle University, Georgie has worked as architectural designer for artist Camille Walala, designing architectural installations, public artworks and large scale murals internationally.
